It is with great sadness that I announce the likelihood of the end of Millet Soccer. On January 24th the Millet Soccer Association held its annual general meeting with the hope that there would be interest from the community to fill the positions of outgoing executive. We were very happy to see two of the four positions filled (vice-president and director) however there is still a need for someone to take the president and treasurer positions. Millet Soccer has enormous potential for further growth and development and it is a wonderful way to meet positive and fun-loving people in our community who are truly committed to our youth and the betterment of our neighborhood. I realize that between jobs, family, and being involved in children’s activities, there aren’t many extra moments available to commit to anything else, however it would be very unfortunate if the Millet Soccer program does not continue due to lack of support.
At this time we are still hopeful that someone will “step up to the plate”. A unanimous decision was made at the AGM that the two positions must be filled on or before February 7th, 2007 or, failing this, an open meeting will be held on February 9th at the Hugo Witt Room, Millet Agriplex at 7:30pm to determine the future of Millet Soccer and the 2007 soccer season.
If you would like to see this wonderful soccer program continue and would like to contribute by becoming a part of the executive, please contact Henrik Bruun at 387-4448 or Audrey Kugyelka at 387-4042 before the February 7th deadline. If the two open positions of president and treasurer are not filled, there will be no Millet soccer program in 2007.
